Big Narstie
Already making a name for himself in the scene by featuring in over ten videos that have featured on Channel U, one of the only guests on the N-Dubz album, being an actor in the well-respected drama Dubplate Drama and self confessed fan of weed & chicken! LOL. That’s right one of Brixton’s number one spitters is back and this time he is with good old UK veteran Tricksta for a mixtape entitled ‘The Big Man Returns’. After getting a copy from Park Street PR I just had to do the right thing and link up with the big man to what goes down and what his plans for 2009 are.
Easy Narstie, top of the morning to you, hello hi! (As you say on the new mixtape – Lol!). How’s it all going, life treating you good?
Hello Hi! I’m not so bad, I can’t complain. The suns shining and I’m grinding!
So let’s get into it. The new mixtape ‘The Big man Returns’ has dropped on Wolftown Recordings through UK Runnings and is mixed by Tricksta. How did a fairly new artist from the grime scene in Brixton meet up with an old skool Hip-Hop veteran from Wolverhampton? LOL
LOL!!! The answer to that is the worldwide web! LOL! I was actually on My Space trying to network and I hollered at Tricksta and he got straight back in touch with me and showed me mad love, then it was like ‘Bob’s ya uncle’, the rest is history as they say! I got nuff love for Tricksta
The tape is heavy by the way; actually it’s HHB’s mixtape of the month! So big up to that. How long did it take to make?
Yeh Tricksta showed me that, so mad love for that! Brappp!!! LOL! The mixtape was done quick still. Basically I am 300 songs deep so I just picked some out of a bunch and Tricksta went with the ones he was feeling. It was a good project from start to finish, working with UK Runnings and Wolftown is so easy!
There are some nice guests on there too. Let’s talk about who is on the mixtape, rappers and producers, and what you think each person brought to the table?
Yeh I had to get my crew members on there N.A.A/N-Dubz, Solo, L Dot Man, as well as Wretch 32, Scorcher & Giggs. Beats came from Rippa, PJam, Stevo, Nikki Nitro and even my boy Tricksta did a beat too! I think they all brought something to the table in their own unique way. The mixtape is bananas and everyone on the mix is all talented in their own way.
So the mixtape is out now. Where can people buy it?
It’s available from all the usual spots like HMV (here is the direct link….) http://hmv.com/hmvweb/simpleSearch.do?searchUID=&pGroupID=-1&adultFlag=false&primaryID=-1&simpleSearchString=big+narstie+-+the+bag+man+returns&btnSubmitSearch.x=24&btnSubmitSearch.y=13
And of course all the independents like UK Record Shop and Suspect Packages…

As well as the new Wolftown site www.wolftownrecordings.net Was this mixtape with Tricksta and UK Runnings a strict one-off or will you be working with Tricksta again? What was it like working with him? Be honest, hahaha! Was it all smooth and easy?!!
Tricksta’s my brother from another mother! Tricks and UK Runnings will be dropping a Big Narstie mixtape twice a year, he’s stuck with me! Working with Tricksta is so, so bless! We both tell each other what we think on certain issues and Tricksta gives me some real good advice. I call him Yoda!
Word has it you are in the series of Dubplate Drama, alongside N Dubz, Mike GLC, Shiest and the mighty Tim Westwood. Can you tell us when this will be on our screens and what channels etc.?
Boy…. It might be going to cinemas but I can’t talk about it too much but trust me its looking sick!
What was it like filming with Tim Westwood? What is he like to work with?
Tim Westwood’s cool. He is very professional on set.
Is acting something you consider to be like a back-up plan or is just another creative outlet?
I like acting. It’s kool. I will be doing much more in the future and I am currently in the process of getting an acting agent.
So what’s next release wise for you? What can we expect? A full length album?
Yeh man of course! The album is called ‘An Exceedingly Good Cake’ and that will be coming out with a film called ‘London State Of Mind’ which is produced by Dice Recordings.
Any new videos planned?
Yeh man its on-line now actually. ‘I Can’t Leave It Alone’, which is my first single from the album. Here is the link (it would be great if this could be on your front page!!! Hint, Hint LOL!!! Hahaha!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEBF_sLXDs0
Do you a My Space page or a website and do you work on the Internet a lot?
My URL is www.myspace.com/bignarstie. I’m kind of new to the Internet; I’ve only just started out really.
Okay before you go is there anyone you want to big-up or shout-out?
Of course shouts to N Double A, N-Dubz, Yoda aka Tricksta! Dice Recordings, A.L.C and a shout to Lunatrix & DJ Vokal from Hip-Hop Basement Radio for giving me the exposure and playlisting my tracks! Much love big up to the HHB!!!! Brapp!!!
