RH Bless

Bless was introduced to the notorious ills of the music industry in 1994, and has done shows and toured around the world. Bless has also caught the ear of some underground college radio station deejays, and has been receiving exposure and airplay within the NYC region and up and down the east coast, as well as write-ups and interviews on several internet hip-hop magazine sites. Under the Block Exchange Entertainment umbrella, Bless has also began producing, shooting, and editing his own videos, as well as for several other up and coming artist on the underground hip hop scene. Encompassing a multitude of talents and abilities to help bring forth the movement that is The Block Exchange. R.H. Bless comes forth with a passion and heartfelt realism that is promising to uplift his struggles to success.

So for those don’t know you, tell us who you are and what you would consider to be your achievements in the music industry so far?

My name is R.H. Bless. They call me the heart and soul of the streets. Block Exchange is what I represent. My objective is to keep representing hip hop without a pause while preserving, upholding and pushing forward the artistry. I accomplish that in part by releasing my music under my Block Exchange label and creating a DVD called B.L.O.C.K. Report that I put out bi-monthly that showcases artist making an impact on the hip hop scene.

Tell us about your latest release.

My latest release is my mixtape entitled ‘Unsignable’ hosted by DJ Ophax. It’s my effort to show that aside from being a diverse lyricist, who can perform at the level of any of the top artists in the game, that I am also more than just an emcee. I am an entity that isn’t just settling for the typical rapper situation in regards to these labels and how they deal with artists.

What subject matters and concepts do you cover in your songs?

I cover a lot of grounds in terms of showing versatility over different styles of tracks There are club bangers, street bangers, thought provoking records, heart felt records; I made sure I showed a wide range of my abilities. Anyone hearing this project is going to know I am no joke when it comes to putting songs together and showing true lyricism with that has a large mass appeal. I know I’m way ahead of many emcees and Unsignable is going to show that and set me apart.

Do you currently reside on any record label?

I’m signed to myself. Block Exchange Ent. My hopes are to eventually get a distribution situation for my movement.

What are your thoughts on digital distribution? Is mp3 really the way forward?

At this time it is the way forward. It’s unfortunate that people aren’t supporting physical CDs as they used to but I understand why. The music has been compromised so much that consumers are not willing to spend money on an entire CD with maybe two or three good songs on it. It’s easier to just buy mp3s of the songs you actually like and leave the garbage behind. It’s partially the artist’s fault. Make good music and give the people confidence in spending money on the music.

I’ve worked with DJ Cool Kev, DJ 730, DJ Ophax, DJ Ace Of Spades, DJ Kutfather, DJ Pimp, just to name a few. Looking forward to working with many more. Reach out!

Outside of music how do you relax? What other things are you into doing?

To relax I play basketball. I’m very competitive. I play pool, I bowl, go to the movies, regular guy things. I’m a regular dude.

What else can people expect to hear from you in the near future?

Look to hear the ‘Disturbing The Streets’ volumes. My official album ‘Power Passion Love’ will be released in November. Just expect to hear a lot from me and my crew. Block Exchange Grind Wave. Keep your ears to the street and to the Internet.
