Kevin Kartier

So for those don’t know tell us who you are and what you would consider to be your achievements in the music industry so far?

Well I go by the name of Kevin Kartier and I’m representing Swagger Music. We’re from Biloxi, MS, Gulf Coast, Muddy Sip stand up. And we’ve dropped a couple tapes including “The Crown & the Crest” with DJ Smallz and our newest joint with DJ Ames “The Coronation: The Reign Begins” And look out for “Persistently Consistent” with DJ Rell coming real soon.

What would you has been your biggest track so far to date and does it have a music video on You Tube?

Man, really we’ve gotten positive response for a couple of our tracks but we’re thinking about which song to do a video for. I’m thinking this joint “Greetings” may be the one, so look out for that.

Who produces your music and what record label are you on?

Well I’ve got some tracks done by Ceege and T-Skhillz but most of my music is done with my man Skinny “D” and he’s a beast. Right now I’m strictly independent, doing everything through Swagger Music.

What are your thoughts on digital distribution? Is MP3 really the way forward?

Digital distribution is the way to go now. Most people think “Why would I run out to buy something when I can just download it,” so everyone’s gonna have to adapt or die really.

Have you had much radio support and mixtape features? If so, what DJ’s are supporting you?

We’ve gotten some local spins  but we’re really looking past that and towards the internet. One can reach so many more people that way. So big shout outs to DJ Ames and DJ Smallz for all the help and love.

What subject matters and concepts do you cover in your songs?

Really, I just do what I feel. I make music and tracks that capture a moment, mood, or feeling. So however I’m feeling when I’m writing or the mood the beat puts me in really affects the type of tracks I produce.

Tell us about your latest release. 

The latest joint we have is “The Coronation The Reign Begins” with the #1 DJ in the UK, DJ Ames so big shout out to Ames. He’s doing his thing and we’re doing ours, so us linking up is a win-win situation. I’m really happy with the project and I know the music speaks for itself.

Outside of music how do relax? What other things are you into doing?

Music is my passion so that’s what I do. I’m about building a foundation so I can have a long fulfilling career. This is all I’ve wanted to do for as along as I can remember, so like I said, this is what I do.

What can people expect to hear from you in the near future?

The next project is “Persistently Consistent” with DJ Rell and that’s coming real soon, but for now check out “The Crown & the Crest” and “The Coronation” I promise you wont be disappointed.
