When did you first realise you wanted to be a rapper?

Well when I was young about 10 I use to see all these rappers like Fabulous, Dr Dre, LL Cool J rapping on the TV and get inspired by there music video’s when they had flashy cars, bling lots of model girls and them relaxing in paradise lol. It made me think that’s a dream job something you enjoy if I put in the hard work and effort I would be where they are right now.

You rap and you sing. Do you think this gives you an advantage over other artists?

To be Honest theirs a lot of artists out their that just do one type of talent or just talk about the same old thing violence and drugs it’s really not going anywhere. I thought to myself nah I want to stand out from the crowd and do something a lot of fans can be inspired by so if I rap positive and sing positive it would take me a long way and give me an advantage over many artists.

LL Cool J, 2Pac, Nas and Ludacris are all credited to be influences. How come you are not influenced by any UK acts?

I’m influenced by some UK acts now I must say but I’ve been doing music now for 8 years and when I listened to rap music back in the day I was inspired by those artists at the time because there was no UK acts really that had broken through into the industry at the time.

Who else in UK Hip-Hop are you feeling?

At the moment I’m feeling Black Twang, Black the Ripper, Sway, Giggs, Akala, Dizzee Rascal and Wretch 32.

What American Hip-Hop have you listened to this year?

Well I’ve been listening to a lot of rap rookies that are just stepping into the game like Drake, Papoose, Asher Roth and much more. Also I’ve been listening to Alicia Keys, Beyonce, TQ and Ludacris new album Theatre of the Mind.

Tell me about the label you are on Tru Fam Records. I’ve personally not heard of them before. Is ‘Stepping Out The Box’ the labels first release?

Tru Fam records now is a family Independent label owned by my cousin Rico Levant I’m not signed to the label but they have been helping me with the recording in the studio and putting my album together. Stepping Out The Box is a release by myself but Tru Fam records have been helping me improve as an artist.

You are from Wolverhampton City. Tell us about the Hip-Hop scene there? Apart from the mighty Wolftown Recordings what else goes on there?

The Hip Hop Scene in Wolverhampton is really small there not a lot of rappers that do hip hop theirs more grime underground artists here to be honest. Apart from Tru Fam records and Wolftown there not a lot going on wolves for the hip hop scene.

It says in your biography that you entered a talent competition in your local city. Have you ever thought about entering Britain’s Got Talent or the X-Factor?

About that I did send my application to appear on Britain’s Got Talent but never got a letter back to get on the show it’s a shame really because I really wanted to have a go on there.

The album is produced by a few different producers, but those that don’t know can you tell us who they are and what you think each individual producer brought to your album.

Sam AKA SX is a 17 year old producer who is from the same city as me he bought a lot of the relaxing hip hop tunes to my album giving it a style where fans will drift away when they hear them. Leon AKA Rico Levant is a producer, singer and CEO of Tru Fam records he bought the most relaxing tunes to my album like RnB/Soul giving the fans something to just chill out too. Smiffey is a producer from West Brom I met him when I was selling my previous mixtapes up in town he heard my music and was feeling what I did so he gave me some of his beats to be on this album. He bought to some excitement to the album but at the same time made for positive lyrics.

A lot of acts are doing FREE download releases now to promote their album. Will you be doing one?

Yeah I will be doing one because I want a lot of fans to hear my music and what life is like in Wolverhampton.

So what does 2010 hold for Kystatic?

Hopefully I would like to get a lot of shows touring around the UK building up a fan base, promoting my new album so more people know what I’m about and get a good deal so I can think about selling my own merchandise.
