Lil Joe

Lil Joe is a rapper hailing from West Palm Beach, Florida. Over the past few years he has established his name in the scene and caught the attention around the globe including us here at HHBRadio.com. As soon as we got sent his material we thought it was only right that we caught up with Joe on the phone to discuss where his passion for making music came from and what he has planned for 2010 and beyond.

First of all, thanks for taking the time out to do this interview Joe. For those people out there who haven’t come across you below, can you tell us a bit about where you are based and your background?

I've opened for Khia, performed at Blood Drag carshow with my group Dying Breed (who was offered 3 record contracts before disbanding. Cool a** article in Orlando's Pure Cash Magazine.  Keepin Humble. Live remote positions and being a trained producer of shows on 104.7 The Flame.  I support women because I was pratically raised by my Grandmom.

You are definately on the grind for sure, and focussed on the music. When did you realise that this was the career path for you?

15 years ago. I suffered the death of my father and sister in my arms and this was the way I was able to get a release.

Tell us a bit about the overseas collaboration you are working on with the U.K.'s DJ Ames, ‘International Hustle Vol. 15 w/Chalie Boy’. How did it come about?

My management got in touch with his people through Tawag Enterprises and originally from Amber @ Urban Addiction my booking associate in Tampa, Florida, USA.

Do you intend to come over to the UK anytime soon? I hear you have a tour planned.

I am being considered for 2 UK tours. City Showcase and CME U.K. Spring Line Up. I would love to get overseas expecially since on tunecore and jango i have some fans there.

Do you enjoy getting out on the live circuit or do you prefer to be in the booth recording?

I like being on stage period.

Talking about laying down a record, is there a particular ritual you follow when recording or do you just jump in the booth?

I just get in the booth, I like to be amped up so I might just chill with my crew, Ryan Pehr from 702 Studios WPB, Jason, my hype man Kevin and a few more. But i usually get ish down on the first take so I just roll with it from there.

What’s next for Lil Joe in 2010 release wise?

We are in production for a video for "Got Just What I Want" (DJSwissIvory/SlipNSlide DJ) Showcase #70, Feature on DJAMES u.k. song "Ease Up" that was pressed in England and a Coast2Coast feature mixtape with 5 original songs being shopped to Timbeland & Dre's producer Eric Bronson in Vegas, USA.

I hear you’re also planning a music video for the spring. Have you been bouncing any ideas about for this already?

We are shooting March 22, 2010 at the hottest Gentlemans Club in Lake Worth Florida, Club Mirage thru JJ Heffner the Black Play Boy and Resident: DJ Baby Low. Shouts out to 561.
